Topics of the different levels

A1 – Beginner (Breakthrough)

  • Unit 1: Spanish Alphabet, Greetings and Farewells. How to introduce yourself, Conjugation of the verbs “ser” and “tener”. Grammatical rule of agreement of gender and number.
  • Unit 2: Family vocabulary. Learn how to describe people using simple adjectives. Using the verb «ser» to describe permanent and temporary characteristics.
  • Unit 3: Numbers 0 to 100 and more. Asking and saying the date and time.
  • Unit 4: Naming common places in the city and parts of a house and using basic prepositions. Asking and giving simple directions.
  • Unit 5: Spanish Present Tense, Regular Verbs, forming affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences. Common irregular verbs “estar”, “ir”, “hay”.
  • Unit 6: Vocabulary: food, drinks, and meals of the day; verbs «gustar» and «me encanta.»
  • Unit 7: Reflexive verbs and daily routine verbs like levantarse, ducharse, and trabajar.
  • Unit 8: Vocabulary: Season and weather phenomena, The verbs «hacer» and «estar»,  Commercial context: prices, products, and expressions, Verb: quiero y necesito.
  • Unit 9: Vocabulary: sports, cultural activities, and hobbies. Verbs: me gusta using the infinitive.
  • Unit 10: Test of all the levels.

A2 – Elementary (Waystage)

  • Unit 1: Talking about the Past (Preterite Tense). Past activities, holidays and travel vocabulary.
  • Unit 2: My home and my neighborhood. Verbs “hay” vs. “están” and ” está”. Use of “tener que” for obligations.  Vocabulary: rooms, furniture, types of housing & descriptions of places locations.
  • Unit 3: Family, Relationships & Descriptions. Grammar: Possessive Pronouns. Comparatives and Superlatives. Vocabulary Family Members, Physical Appearance, Personality Traits.
  • Unit 4: Daily Routine and Frequency. Grammar: Expressions of Frequency. Vocabulary Time, Activities, Schedules.

  • Unit 3: Future Plans and Predictions “Ir + a + Infinitive”. Time Clauses with”cuando + Subjunctive”. Vocabulary: Careers, Travel, Goals, and Bucket Lists. Hopes, Intentions, Predictions & Making Plans.
  • Unit 4: Expressing Opinions and Feelings with the Subjunctive. Vocabulary: Emotions, Social Topics, and Debates. Sharing Opinions Politely & Agreeing, Disagreeing.
  • Unit 5: Travel, Directions, and Accommodation. Grammar: Imperatives (tú and usted). Grammar: Formal vs Informal Requests. Vocabulary with English Translation: Travel, Transport, Hotels, Directions. Communicative Functions:  Asking for Help and Reserving a Room While Traveling.

B2- Upper- Intermediate (Vantage)

C1- Advanced (Effective Operational Proficiency).

  • Unit 1: Advanced Communication & Rhetoric. Focus on discourse markers and register shifts, working with rhetorical devices, persuasive expressions and formal/informal equivalents. Students debate complex ideas, use persuasive language and rhetorical questions, and develop vocabulary related to discourse, persuasion and register, concluding with the writing of a persuasive editorial.
  • Unit 2: Subtle Emotions and Nuance. Focus on all forms of the subjunctive (present, imperfect, present perfect and pluperfect) to express subtle emotions, judgments and reactions. Students work with vocabulary related to emotions, psychology, empathy and personal development, participate in emotional debates and analyze the use of subjective language.
  • Unit 3: Professional and Academic Writing. Focus on advanced relative clauses and conditional structures applied to professional and academic contexts. Students learn to write reports, abstracts and project proposals using academic vocabulary and formal written structures.
  • Unit 4: Language and Society: Idiomatic and Colloquial Expressions. Focus on se constructions (pasiva refleja and impersonal) while exploring idioms, slang and regionalisms. Students discuss language variation, dialects, culture and media influence, and complete a research task on dialectal variation.
  • Unit 5: Debates on Ethics and Values. Focus on structures for expressing disagreement, hypothesis and counterargument, including subjunctive forms linked to emotions, uncertainty and values. Students debate ethical consumerism, analyze moral dilemmas and work with vocabulary related to ethics, human rights and social challenges.
  • Unit 6: Cultural Identity and Global Citizenship. Focus on time expressions and narrative style using perfect tenses and the historic present, along with formal contrast and concession structures. Students describe cultural phenomena, values and diversity using advanced vocabulary related to cultural identity and global citizenship.
  • Unit 7: Work, Economy and Innovation. Focus on futuro perfecto, condicional perfecto, estilo indirecto, compound tenses and modals of probability. Students discuss economic innovation, sustainability and global trends through vocabulary connected to work, economy and technological development.
  • Unit 8: Literature, Art and Critical Thought. Focus on the subjunctive in relative clauses and the analysis of literary devices such as metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, alliteration and irony. Students practice cultural critique and develop vocabulary related to literature, criticism and aesthetic analysis.
  • Unit 9: Complex Narratives and Storytelling. Focus on narrative sequencing and subtle tense shifts between pretérito, imperfecto and pluscuamperfecto. Students tell nuanced, layered stories with suspense, climax and reflection, working with narrative structure, personal anecdotes and emotional tone.
  • Unit 10: Role-play and Simulation Activities. Activities include job interview simulations, academic meetings, panel debates on social issues, crisis management simulation and cultural exchange scenarios, targeting fluency, complex grammar and advanced vocabulary. The unit integrates a final evaluation through a critical essay, research summary and a formal oral presentation with Q&A.
